Wait, do Americans only have the 25th of December off? On the other side of the pond, 26th is a holiday as well.
Sipping a Bourbon, thinking about all of you gearheads who had to go work today.

niiiice, lucky :] I worked 7-7 on Tuesday as well. We had 1 car come in at Volvo, one at Aston, and the phone rang like twice. Today there is only one car scheduled for service. Stay extra warm and take an extra sip for me buddy, it's going to be a long day :]

I'm not used to this
I want my salary back, along with benefits of any sort
This is my first ever "hourly" job and I cannot handle it. My paychecks vary from week to week, and their "estimate" of my hours is arbitrary at best. No late hours counted, no work-from-home hours counted, no nothing. I'm confused and infuriated. Should'a never left my old job

speaking of check varying week to week, I was a auto tech for the last 5-6 years. Punch in 7-6 and depending on the cars coming in, warranty or customer pay, upsales, parts department, service advisers, and speed in which the job is completed, I could physically be here 55 hours a week and make 30 ish hours pay. At the same time though, if it's busy, I could make closer to 90 hours a week and leave early on Friday. Sucked taking 2 days on a "rattle noise" car and only getting payed 0.5 hours for insulating a panel under warranty :( I am currently hourly and glad for that in my field of work, trust me, it could be worse, but straight salary would be rad as well :]
